March 22 Birthdays include George Benson a ten-time Grammy Award-winning musician and singer-songwriter. He began his professional career at twenty-one, and has become one of the greatest guitarists in jazz history. He will be 71 and Brooklyn's own Stephanie Mills will be 57.
She honed her rich vocals at Brooklyn's Cornerstone Baptist Church as a child. At nine, she began appearing in the Broadway play Maggie Flynn. She was presented with first prize after winning "The Amateur Hour" talent contest six weeks straight at New York's famed Apollo Theater when she was nine. In 1975 she won the role of Dorothy in The Wiz and the rest of her story is recorded in multiple albums along the way.
